Ingredients

500 g beef minced
1 egg
bread crumbs
1 tin of chopped tomatoes
250 g mushrooms
2 carrots
2 peppers
1 onion
2-3 cloves garlic
10 basil leaves
2 tsp sugar
parsley
salt, pepper
oil for frying

Here is a delicious recipe for beef meatballs cooked in an aromatic sauce with lots of vegetables. At first glance, this dish resembles the traditional Bulgarian Chirpan meatballs, but our recipe has a slight Mediterranean twist.

In a hot pan add a tablespoon of vegetable sunflower oil and fry chopped onion and garlic.

In a large bowl mix well beef mince, one egg, bread crumbs, and the fried onion and garlic. Add chopped basil leaves. Season with salt and pepper.

Make small meatballs.

For the sauce, chop carrots, peppers, and mushrooms. In a hot pot, put a tablespoon of sunflower oil and fry the vegetables. Add canned tomatoes.

Season with a little sugar, salt, and pepper. Turn the heat down and put the meatballs in the sauce. Cook for about 20-25 minutes.

Serve with chopped parsley sprinkled on top.
